Summary: Hand Rail added for safety and access to Rotary Beach in Ketchikan, Alaska
Rotary 2000 requests funds to add a railing to provide additional safety for beach access at Rotary Beach. Rotary Beach is a popular beach and swimming hole just south of Ketchikan. This is a beach that is used year round, including when it is icy and snowy. Previously, Ketchikan 2000 installed a cement ramp to allow easier access to the beach and would now like to add a railing to address safety concerns especially for the elderly, children and during inclement weather. Rotary 2000 teams up with First City Rotary and the Parks Department for the on-going care and maintenance of this beach that was donated to the city by Ketchikan 2000 in 1940's. All club members will be invited and encouraged to participate and to bring friends and family to work on the project. Club members with engineering and building expertise will be in charge of the project. Funds requested will be used to purchase materials. This project will be completed by August, 2015.
