Project Description Country: USA Location: Arizona Total Budget: $5,450 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Support 25-30 homeless youth through the Homeless Youth Connection Host Family Program This is a multi-club grant application to provide assistance to the Homeless Youth Connections' Host Family Program in our service area. Glendale West, Peoria, Peoria North and Sun City Rotary clubs have a desire to aid homeless youth from the local High Schools by helping to fund stipends for the Homeless Youth Connections' (HYC) Host Family Program. Through discussions with the Peoria Unified School District, the City of Peoria and the HYC, it has been determined that the Host Family program is one of most effective means of aiding the youth who are homeless. Stipends for the Host Families who temporarily take in these youth are necessary to help offset the normal living, transportation and special activity expenses in housing these students and to ensure there are enough families willing to shelter these youth. The grant funds will be distributed to the HYC as needed and request. It is estimated that 25-30 students will be helped by this grant. Members of the clubs and the PUSD Homeless Liaison Coordinator will monitor the needs of the homeless youth and the results of providing the stipends on their individual situations.
