Project Description Country: USA Location: USA_Peoria AZ Total Budget: $2,200 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Education that teaches children from 1-4 years water safety to prevent drowning through Josh the Otter From April through May 2016 Peoria Rotary club and AZ E Club are planning on having a one day preventive project to show the pre school aged children through Josh the Otter book and CD, tthe4 death the safety rules about being by a pool. The Peoria Fire Department will have a demonstration on drowning and what can happen when not following the rules. The Peoria Unified School District will sent out flyers with all children in K-3 grade levels. This program with provide literacy since each child will receive a book and a CD. Living in AZ, the death rate is pre school children is very high. PR will be handle through Glendale Star, Peoria Times, Fire Department Club Websites and other media venues. TWO CLUBS ARE DOING THIS PROJECT TOGETHER SO THAT Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed) The project is moving forward as planned. It will be held in May 2016. We are getting a lot of support from preschools and notifying other interested parties about this event.
