Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Holt County NE

Total Budget: $3,400

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: Volunteer Services

Summary: Provide a year's supply of three compartment dellivery containers for the O'Neill Golden Age Senior Center's Meals on Wheel Program.

Senior residents, aged 60 and older, and qualified disabled (in the Holt County Communities of O'Neill, Chambers, and Inman) receive home-delivered warm, nutritious meals prepared by the O'Neill Golden Age Senior Center. These "Meals on Wheels" are delivered by community volunteers on Mondays-Fridays throughout the year. The purchase of the three-part containers will help to reduce the cost of the meals to the qualified consumers. After the meals are placed in the cartons, a plastic film is applied with a heat-sealing machine at the preparation kitchen. Sixteen cartons of 800 trays (12,800 total)will accommodate needs for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Based on previous year's pricing, the total cost to purchase a year's supply of these cartons is $3,400.00. This expenditure supports the health of our aging and disabled population in the Holt County area.

Dian, since the maximum amount per club that the committee is able to give for a project this year is $1,000, you will either need to increase the club contribution by $700 or reduce the total budget by that amount. Please let me know what you want to do. If you have a question, please contact me. Thanks. Dale Schultz
