Summary: Kids Don't Float at Ft Abercrombie State Park in Kodiak

Kids Don't Float is project with history elsewhere in AK and USA http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/boating/kdfhome.htm Kodiak Noon Rotary will do this project in collaboration with AK State Parks and with Kodiak High School welding program. Because of Kodiak environment the cabinet for life preserves will be fabricated from aluminum by KHS welding students. Life preservers will be made available at Lake Gertude at Ft Abercrombie State Park where KHS student drowned in July 2013. Project will then provide publicity with wider collaboration for life jacket use in Kodiak (being especially appropriate as maritime community). Rotary funds will be for cabinet materials and safety publicity (signage etc). Life jackets are federally funded. We have available on request pdf files from AK State Parks further describing.
