Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Twin Falls, ID

Total Budget: $4,500

Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Wellness Tree Clinic serves the underserved medical needs of the Twin Falls and surrounding area, but is lacking in basic equipment needed for minor surgeries.

The Wellness Tree Clinic is a non-profit facility that provides basic medical care to the under-served medical needs of low income residents of Twin Falls and the surrounding area. The clinic is located in the old county hospital building and is staffed primarily by volunteer physicians, many of whom are Rotary members of the Twin Falls Rotary Club and the Blue Lakes Rotary Club. There are currently 14 members of the Twin Falls Rotary Club who have and are volunteering in various capacities for the clinic. Volunteer efforts range from physicians (5) to fund raising and miscellaneous other tasks at the clinic.

The clinic is continuing to work to increase the services that they provide to low income members of the community. Recently a member of the community came to the clinic needing minor surgery, while the physician on duty at the time was able to assist the individual, it became apparent that there was a need to acquire a surgical table and surgical lighting to be able to safely address those type of needs in the future.

The Director of the clinic has requested our assistance to purchase a used surgical table, used surgical lighting and some minor surgical instruments that can be installed in the clinic to address their needs for minor surgery. The estimated cost for the equipment is $4,500. The Twin Falls Rotary Club is committed to raising $2,000 through our annual fundraisers to support the purchase of the equipment. We are requesting $2500 in funds through the District Designated Grants to be able to fund the remainder of the purchase.

The addition of this equipment will allow the clinic to increase the scope of their services, to increase safety of providing minor surgeries and to reduce the burden of the cost of indigent medical expenses for Twin Falls County.

We've reviewed your final report and documentation, and we need a little more information. Please upload copies of your club's cancelled checks to The Wellness Tree and/or the vendors who supplied the equipment. That will complete the paper trail for the money and expenses.
