Project Description Country: USA Location: Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Total Budget: $4,130 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Education: Scholarships Summary: Provide scholarships to the outstanding youth volunteers in the Los Alamitos/Rossmoor/Seal Beach Community The Youth Center's A Night Among the Stars was established in 2013 to award philanthropic youth by recognizing and honoring their efforts to participate and engage positively in our communities. Non-profit agencies, cities and the school district nominate their youth volunteers for recognition of their service both locally and internationally. Each nominee is highlighted at the Night Among The Stars event and is given many accommodations from local, county and state government representatives. 2 Stellar Award winners are chosen and given a $500 scholarship. The event has received outstanding participation and Los Alamitos/Seal Rotary would like to help this effort expand by offering $500 scholarships to at least 10 youth volunteers. Our Rotary club would received all of the nomination information from each agency and through a Rotary committee the 10 awardees would be selected. Our club would also be instrumental in organizing and setting up the event since the sponsoring agency (The Youth Center) is run by volunteers and is always looking for event help.
