We propose to buy "backpacks" from The Children's Reading Foundation which contain learning tools to prepare 4-5 year old children for Kindergarten. CRF screens needy families to identify kids that would most benefit from the program. The "backpacks" are bags containing learning tools such as, building blocks, magnetic letters, flash cards and illustrated books, as well as a binder of information to guide the parents in working with their children. Materials are offered in English and Spanish, depending upon the child. Club members will distribute the backpacks to 10 children. The club is working with the director or CRF to identify volunteer opportunities for the Rotarians. The project will be implemented in September 2015 and completed in the Spring of 2016, as each child will receive a backpack in the Fall, in the Winter and in the Spring

Ready For Kindergarten Blue Lakes Rotary gran project. We submitted a Proposal for $1980.00. We received $875.00 and our the Blue Lakes Rotary Club gave the difference of $1105.00. The money was used for tools to give children a chance to better their education. This will give children a chance to raise their levels to enable kindergarten aged kids the education they need to advance in school at the levels required, which at this time is very low. This allowed 218 children in five districts, three of which were in our local areas. 29 classes were grouped these quality tools such as brain teaser puzzles, flash cards, and building blocks were given out. Binders for parents and children with books and other useful tools. Many children and parents will greatly benefit, we thank you!
