Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Idaho

Total Budget: $1,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Scholarships

Summary: Scholarship for one college freshman

Rotary District 5400 hopes to initiate an academic scholarship program that would grant $1000 per year for four years to a college freshman who meets the criteria established by the district scholarship committee and maintains full time student status as required by the scholarship. At this time, we're asking for $1000, to fund a freshman student (starting college fall 2015) currently residing in Rotary District 5400 and planning to attend a community college or university located within the district or within the State of Idaho. Next year we propose to continue the scholarship for the 2015 recipient in his/her sophomore year, and initiate another four-year plan for a second student, and so on until we are providing support to four students. Applications for the scholarship will be made available to students throughout the district in June to be reviewed by the committee for selection of the recipient.
