Summary: Stock the Yorba Linda Food for Families Food bank, to provide emergency and necessary food to needy families in the city of Yorba Linda and immediate surroundings.
Families who are experiencing a hard time financially for various reasons may require temporary food support, so that both parents and children are well nourished. The Yorba Linda Food Bank is now an officially recognized EFAP agency, i.e. an Emergency Food Assistance Program agency. Our financial contributions are used to acquire food at a considerably reduced cost from suppliers such as Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as food at reduced rates from our local supermarkets. Four Rotarians volunteer their time on a weekly basis through the year to stock the shelves and fridges, package food for handing over to families in need of assistance. Our contributions typically assist more than 250 persons annually. This number can increase substantially, but other donors also assist fulfill the need. In most cases these are families with 2 children. Our goal is to ensure that no child goes hungry during the time the family is experiencing an economic crisis. Our activities are monthly beginning during the first week of July, 2015.
