Each year Project Mercy, a non-profit San Diego agency invites organizations to build houses for the destitute families in the colonias east of Tijuana, Mexico. Various organizations accept the invitation by paying for the supplies to build a home and then on a designated day providing the personnel to build a home. This year's date is October 3rd. It is always a difficult decision as to which families will be selected to have a new home, but families with small children, single mothers and handicapped people usually head the list. It is anticipated that 15 or 16 houses will be built this year.
The Rotary Club of Fallbrook in conjunction with the Interact Clubs of Fallbrook High School and Francis Parker High School plan to build one of these houses this year. The cost of the material for one house is $4900 and an additional $600 for an outhouse. The Rotary Club of Fallbrook has pledged $2,750 to purchase the materials and would like District matching funds to obtain the total material costs.
This is an opportunity for members of The Rotary Club of Fallbrook and Interactors from Fallbrook HS and Francis Parker HS to build a house in one day for a very needy family. Please see the pictures attached.
