Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Camp Pendleton, CA

Total Budget: $20,000

Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Economic and community development

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: This will be the seventh year we have provided holiday hams and commissary gift cards to 200+ families at Camp Pendleton. We also provide funds to support the Armed Services YMCA after school programs.

In mid-December, 2015, our Rotary Club will support 200+ families of the Camp Pendelton Marines by assisting with the distribution of Toys for Tots and giving each family a holiday ham and commissary gift card to assist them during the holidays. Additional funds are raised to support the Armed Services YMCA after school and support programs for the year.

Funds will be used to purchase the holiday hams, dry ice, and UHaul truck rental (if necessary) for the families with the club matching the $1500 DDF. Additionally, we will purchase a minimum of $10,000 in $50 gift cards and provide a minimum of $5000 to the Armed Services YMCA. These additional items may rise depending on fundraising efforts.

Additional participation efforts will come from the Boy Scout Troop we charter as well as the Interact Clubs from Tesoro and Trabuco HIlls High Schools.

We will publicize the Families Left Behind 2015 program by sending the flyer (see in documents) to friends & families of members as well as businesses who have supported the program in the past or have an interest in supporting it this year.

Additionally, our effort will be posted on our Facebook and Club websites and a press release will be provided to the Orange County Register for publication.
