The 30 unit ultra-low income senior apartment building was built by Rotarians and completed in 1980. The east entrance of the building is currently comprised of deteriorated and cracked steps along with broken and corroded railing. It is not ADA compliant. This is especially an issue because of the average age of a BREAL resident is in the 70's.
This project will replace the stairs and railing, create a covering for inclement weather, as well as a ADA compliant ramp. The project will also provide new landscaping, trees, and sprinkler system.
The project will be completed started August 15, 2015 and completed by October 15, 2015.
The project funds will be used to pay for materials such as concrete, railing, sprinklers, lumber, paint as well as professional labor. (see attached budget detail)
Brea Boy Scout Troop 707 and Brea Cub Pack 707 (both chartered by Brea Rotary) will be providing volunteer labor. Along with Brea Boy Scout Troop 707 and Brea Cub Pack 707, Brea Rotarians will be providing volunteer labor on the project. This includes: demolition, grading, trenching, planting, sprinkler modifications, painting, and tree removal. At least 10 Brea Rotarians will be volunteering their labor.
