The Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area has served the youth and families in our community since 1967. Their mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Their goal is to give these Club Members access to fun and educational programming as part of their summer Brain Gain program.
One of the key elements to positive youth development is supportive. By not only financially supporting the field trip but exploring and discovering along side the B & G Club members the Rotary Club is showing these kids that we care.
Children feel valued when a caring adult takes time with them to have lunch with them and ask them about their day. With the support of the San Clemente Rotary Club the Boys & Girls Club members will get an experience they will not forget at the Discovery Cube.
We plan on having at least 8 members of the Club go on each of these field trip. They will occur sometime in August, 2015. So, the project should be complete in September, 2015.
We are providing funding to take 150 B & G Club members ages 5 to 18 to the Discovery Science Cube in Santa Ana. The cost includes bus transportation, admission tickets to the Museum, admission tickets to a movie shown there, and lunch inside the Museum.
