The Boys and Girl Club of Abilene has been serving the community since 1958. Constantly in search of innovative ways to inspire the youth, and after extensive research, the club decided that the best model in this endeavor is the User Creative Robot curriculum and kits.
The kits will allow 6-12 year-old children to begin understanding the simple concepts of engineering through building simple robots. A second set of kits take the students to a more complex curriculum and more complex robots. The third set introduces the students to simple programming which allows them to control the robots.
If approved, this project will commence in the fall of 2015 at a cost of $3,345.00. The breakdown is as follows: Elementary Robotics Camp = $1595.00 per unit (1 unit); Elementary Robotic Level 2 = $875 (5 units at $175.00); Elementary Robotic Level 3 = $875.00 (5 units at $175.00). Our club will help finance and provide one-on-one encouragement to the students
by being present whenever possible when the training is taking place.
