Project Description Country: Mexico Location: Hospital Cerro Azul Total Budget: $6,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: Volunteer Services Summary: Surgical equipment provided to site in Tecate, Mexico facial cleft deformities for the under-served population This project will provide needed specialty equipment for the Rotary-sponsored Hospital Cerro Azul in order to provide updated equipment for the treatment of children presenting with facial cleft disorders found in the Northern region of Baja, Mexico and serve patients coming from the Sonora Desert as well as from the Tijuana and Tecate regions. Carlsbad Club Rotarian, Dr. Jeff Moses as well as the United Services Rotarian anesthesiologist, Dr. Nick Pollard, and the Mission Bay Rotarian Operating Nurse, Hon. Patricia Hunter will all participate with this effort as well as the Rotary Club of Carlsbad membership and the Rotary Club of Tecate membership on a triennial basis in the year of this grant. It has been sent to signature request stage. 2-Aug-15 System Entry Project sent for club signatures. 2-Aug-15 System Entry Project signed by Dr. Jeff Moses. 5-Aug-15 by Marge Cole District Grant application P-995 was approved by the D5340 Rotary Foundation Committee at its August 2015 meeting. It was used for surgery for many children afflicted with Facial Cleft deformities in Tecate, Mexico on the clinic of November 13-14, 2015. This equipment will be utilized at the Hospital Cerro Azul for many more missions. 16-Nov-15 by Dr Jeff Moses Final Report prepared and uploaded with photographs uploaded as well. 16-Nov-15 by Marge Cole The Final Report for this project is impressive; but there are no receipts for any of them items purchased--only a delivery list.
