Project Title: Rotary Cares for Kids


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The project was to provide birthday bags to the food bank to hand out to children. The bags consisted of a cake mix, frosting, plates, napkins, candles, party favors, table cloth, activity books and balloons. Over 100 birthday bags were purchased and donated to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank to help families in need of a birthday celebration for their children.

The 60 Christmas bagss had kid-friendly food items, a holiday activities, and food items for them to snack on.

The activities took place from September 2022 -May 2023 in Soldotna Alaska.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 100 children plus their parents/gradians who had this stress relieved.

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

Local children and their parents/gradians who were not able to The beneficiaries impacted were mostly underserved children. The need met would be food security and help the mental health of the children/families during their birthdays and holidays.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 40

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

Birthday bag stuffing parties had 10 Rotarians & family members. The Christmas bags were stuffed at lunch where around 30 Rotarians and guests set up an assembly line to stuff the bags. The birthday Bags and Christmas bags were delivered to the food bank by 5 Rotarians.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank distributed the birthday bags and Christmas bags to underserved children.
