Rotary Club: Solana Beach Project Title: SD Climate Action Network - 4 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? San Diego Climate Action Network (SDCAN) provided information and educational materials to the San Diego County Community via the online calendar on its website and social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). The Rotary Grant enabled SDCAN and its volunteers to continue providing services during this past year. We were able to keep our community consistently updated as events moved online. The funding allowed us to continue to use a calendaring program that now automates posts to Twitter and Facebook and enabled us to pay through our own funds for a service that retweets climate organizations in San Diego County. This has enabled more consistently placed social media posts highlighting events, meetings, educational items, and news related to climate action, advocacy, and impacts in San Diego County. 2. How many people benefited from this project? Approximately 6000, including those receiving a weekly email, users interacting on social media, and through direct personal contact in the San Diego County community. 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The beneficiaries include community groups that provide services and education around the county pertaining to climate change, the general public, and people in disadvantaged areas of the county. Through the work of SDCAN, more people in San Diego County are aware of the environmental impacts that climate change is currently having and may have in the future. SDCAN facilitated attendance of more people at in-person and online community meetings and activities pertaining to environmental justice, green jobs training, and the advancement of renewable energy and emission-free transportation. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 2 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Niels Lund offered guidance. Dave Peiser coordinated all the work by SDCAN. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? San Diego Climate Action Network provided the platform and planning for all activities. 7. Income
