Project Description

Region: Africa

Country: Nigeria

Location: Lagos

Total Budget: $45,000

Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Disease prevention and treatment

Our candidate for this Global Grant Scholarship is Ms Damilola Idowu, who has been admitted for the Master's degree in Information Systems at the Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia for One academic year. She plans to develop further skills in order to design and implement techno-tools for effective evaluation and execution of public policies and programs to achieve sustainable development, peace, and social justice.

According to Damilola Idowu, "Information can be a huge boon in Peace Building and Sustenance Operations by strengthening the ties between individuals, between communities and improving their ability to share, learn and interact with one another. Greater information also means better ability to understand situations and act accordingly through the use of Internet connectivity, mobile technologies and PDAs, Online Dispute Resolution tools, Translation tools and the several social media platforms. As an Information Technology Professional, I intend to use these innovative technologies to improve relationships amongst societies and nations and in general improve lives".

Domilola is also a certified Peer Educator Trainer on HIV/AIDS.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
