Mobile Cervical Cancer Screening and Education Program.
This Rotary Global Grant project aims to set up a Mobile Cervical Cancer Screening facility with Colposcopy.This Mobile unit will be used to conduct screening camps in rural villages of Kanniyakumari District in INDIA. Kanniyakumari District is the southern most part of India with a population of 1.86 million covering an area of 1684 Sq.km. The density of population is 1,106 per sq.km which is one among the highest in India.The District has 42 coastal fishing villages. All the coastal villages are noted as a High natural background Radiation Region (HBRRs).
Cervical Cancer ,the third most common Cancer among women in the world , 88 percent of which occurred in developing countries . One in every five women in the world suffering from cervical cancer belongs to India, which has the largest burden of cervical cancer patients in the world.With this Global Grant ,Rotary club of Nagercoil Town would like to conduct 50 cervical cancer screening camps in the rural villages.For this purpose Rotary club of Nagercoil Town join hands with Sreeram cancer Trust, a registered Not-for-profit charitable organization in Nagercoil. The Trust is working in the field of cancer care since 2007.
