Project Description Region: Africa Country: Kenya Location: Nakuru County Total Budget: $45,000 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Water, sanitation and hygiene Moto primary is situated in Molo sub-county in Nakuru County Kenya. The pupil population is 1500,of which 800 are girls and 700 are boys. School on first experience looks like it is preferred by parents in this area! But No! The school came into existence following the most unfortunate 2007/2008 Post Election Violence(PEV) in Kenya; crowding together thousands of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) with their school going children-the reason for this large population.Rotarians from Rotary Club of Nakuru-The Great Rift Valley visited the school to donate sanitary towels to the needy girls in the school thinking this was their most needed help.We were wrong! The most urgent need of this school is provision of clean water for drinking,cooking and washing to wad off pending health hazards on pupils in this school. It is pathetic that the children scoop the dirty residual rainwater for washing hands and classrooms. Interventions: RENOVATION OF A BOREHOLE WHICH WAS DRILLED BUT NOT DEVELOPED.
