Social Inclusion for hearing impaired persons
We have been developing a GG project to help hearing impaired people who are financially disadvantaged that live in our district.
The treatment provided by the government health care system does not earmark sufficient funds in its budget to treat all patients in a timely manner.
As a result, there are more than 1,500 people currently waiting in line for treatment, and the queue might be up to 6 years or even more.
Most hearing impaired people who receive treatment and a hearing aid are very quickly reintegrated into society. With the correct treatment they can work, study, and have a regular life. Without treatment this person will be isolated alone in his small world.
We are working together with a philanthropic institution accredited by the health federal agency that supplies treatment free of charge for the patients. The funds of this project will be used to pay for the aid device, medical examinations and follow-up provided by this institution which name is ATEAL.
Our goal in this project is to help 400 to 500 people. The total cost of this project will be around US$ 200,000.00.
The average cost of each treatment is US$ 450,00 and varies according to the cause of the illness. Different types of special medical examinations can be applied and the type of the hearing device will change as well. All the devices used must be approved by the government regulation agency (similar to the FDA in the US).
A contribution of US$ 10,000.00 from a DDF and a matching amount from the Rotary Foundation will help at least 40 people to have their lives changed!
Please join us in this challenge! Thanks so much!
