Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Community economic development
The Camerata Jovem Beethoven project is already being carried out and currently benefits 150 children and teens. The second phase of the project will be carried out in a different region of the city, in order to meet the needs of another 400 children. As a result of the first phase of the project, not only have the involved children improved their performance by 90% in school, but also the cases of bullying and indiscipline have substantially decreased.
The project will begin in June 2016, up until September 2017. In order to buy the musical instruments and infra-structure equipment, US$ 34,000,00 will be needed. For the development of the project, the institution counts with its own funds, prefecture grants and fund-raising events, with the participation of rotary members. The rotarians will be directly involved with the development of the project, setting the budget and helping with the acquisition of the instruments.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
