Project Description

Region: Eastern Europe

Country: Turkey

Location: Adana - Kirikli

Total Budget: $70,000

Areas of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene, Community economic development

In Turkey, 72% of the available water is consumed in irrigation. Management of water resources for irrigation and increasing of water-saving irrigation is of paramount importance. Agriculture is most important source of income in Adana region. Although there are irrigation channels in the region, for the use of modern water-saving and effective methods must be installed.

By providing motor pomps for irrigation which work with the electricity provided from solar panels water saving and use of renewable energy will be possible. This will be an important matter for low-cost agriculture in the region.

In RC Adana Guney, there are members who are agriculture engineers. They will provide expertise knowledge. Other engineers and biologists will provide education regarding the importance of water saving. Medical doctors in the club will educate the farmers and their families regarding sanitation as well.

The installation of the system will start as soon as we find partner(s) and it will take 2-3 months.

There are 300 families living in Kirikli village and approximately 400 families living in the surrounding.
