The goal of the project:
To restructure and improve the computer network infrastructure of the hospital, considering the acquisition of workstations (PCs), servers, and storage to ensure the provision of safe space for the information concerning patients and treatments in the institution and improvement of other work processes in the use of the computer system within the hospital management.
The importance of this project is that it will create a greater security for patient information in the institution as this information will guarantee good care, reliable history of each patient and accuracy in the data sent to the administrative sector.
In the current situation there is great risk of losing information due to the fragile and obsolete servers that continuously break down and cause the loss of important data, such as:
Images generated by X-rays
• Reports and histories of patients
• Spreadsheets used in the necessary conferences
• Laboratory tests
• Administrative processes (billing, accounting, financial, etc.)
Currently, the structure of Santa Casa does not have the necessary equipment for the use of image test display systems (ultrasound and x-ray), making it impossible to use electronic medical record display by doctors and nurses.
The limitation of the existing equipment causes Santa Casa to remain with the manual processes that cause errors and difficulties in all sectors of assistance and administration, including hampering and delaying the billing of all patient services.
Because the existing PCs are working on the edge of their lives and because there are no more replacement parts available for this model of machines; when these units break down, it paralyzes a whole department and it stays that way until the department acquires a replacement machine.
