The project is designed to establish a Oral Cancer screening center on a mobile medical unit in Perumbavoor, Kerala , India. A vehicle equipped with dental unit with oral cancer screening and biopsy equipments staffed with a Doctors and Assistants can be operated in the Project area, so that dental facility can be provided at the doorstep of the poor and needy people of the region. The same vehicle can be used to provide health education to the people and spearhead the conduct of free dental and oral cancer awareness camps in the Project area. The estimated cost of the equipping, installation, training is USD 56000 . We are seeking financial support through Rotary clubs contributions and with matching DDF from other rotary districts and world funds.

The project will provide Oral cancer screening for an undeserved area with a population of over 100 thousand. The Project will be implemented in association with Doctors and staffs of Indira Gandhi institute of Dental Sciences, a reputed institute from Nellikuzhi , Kothamangalam, Kerala, India.

SAY NO TO ORAL CANCER PROGRAMME:

The program was started in the month of July 2013, a signature and ongoing project of Rotary Club of Perumbavoor Central ( Club 82020, Rotary Dist. 3201 ) in association with Indira Gandhi Institute of dental sciences. We have organized nearly 100 screening camps in the last 3 years in and around the area till now. Approximately 12000 people were benefited by this program so far. Our club members will ensure that effective functioning of the mobile unit and the funds are utilized diligently. Our members are regularly participating in the camps and visiting the associated hospitals where in adequate directions are given from time to time. We are currently conducting camps and medical assistance with sponsors from the club and from outside sponsors.

The mobile unit is planned in Tata LP 712/42 BS 1V ( Invertor Tecnology ) Air conditioned Vehicle with 9 seat in driver/passenger cabin for doctors and staffs with Air compressor, Honda EU 7 (Inverter Technology) Generator, Dental chair set with Biopsy instruments, Air compressor, Audio and video systems for public address system, fully equipped clinic cabin and Fresh and waste tank with pressurized motor with all medical equipments for screening Oral cancer.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit).
