The primary objective of this Global Grant is to reduce maternal and child deaths by equipping, training and promoting efficient practices in the Health Centers of three rural communities in Kenya. The goal is to make these three sites centers of excellence to be emulated by many other such facilities all over rural Kenya.
Kenya ranks as one of the top 5 countries with the highest maternal and neonatal deaths in the Sub-Sahara Africa. This stems from poor health practices, lack of applicable equipment, and lack of adequate training for the supporting medical staff. Contributing factors include poor infrastructure, lack of human resources, inadequate financing, poor governance, and inadequate application of modern technology including a lack of effective Monitoring and Evaluation systems.

DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
