Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Brazil

Location: Brasília

Total Budget: $56,500

Area of Focus: None

The project aims to acquire a vehicle. The vehicle type will be a Van to meet the logistics support and needs of the institution "Community Center Aunt Angelina", involving the transport of personnel (students supported by this Institution) to participate in events in other Communities and or events in locations outside of Assisted Communities (Varjão and Estrutural), such as theater, cinema and other socio-cultural activities.

This project has the general objective to provide the "Community Social Center Aunt Angelina" (CSCTA) with the means to transport students and teenagers to socio-cultural activities that are held outside of their bases in the communities in which it operates.

To achieve the overall objective of the project, CSCTA established the following specific objectives:

 Provide to this Entity a means of transportation for Children and Adolescents traveling to and from sociocultural activities outside the Community;

 Supporting the Institution with transportation of resources needed for daily operations;

 Contribute to provide daily service between units located in Varjão and Estrutural.

After careful analysis of the Entity, with regard to its operations, it was detected that there were some structural requirements that affect the quality of services. Among them, is the lack of vehicles to support operations that would transport children and adolescents to and from sociocultural activities outside the assisted Communities.

The final beneficiaries of the project are located in two communities: The Community called Varjão, one of those assisted by the Institution, has a population of 33,734 as reported at the 2010 IBGE Census. The population of children and adolescents of the community is around 11,800 young people, of which the CSCTA support only 4.0% approximately. The community's population is 35,801 inhabitants (CODEPLAN, 2013), with 34.12% of the total is in the range of "0" zero to "14" years or 12,215 children and young people, and many of them live in extremely vulnerable conditions. The CSCTA can meet only 2.4%.

The project's focus area is the Kindergarten and Daycare for children from 1 to 3 years, and Coexistence Service as well as Family Link-Building for children from 6 to 14 years, during free periods before or after school.

The investment value is R$ 181,390 (one hundred eighty-one thousand, three hundred and ninety reals) or $ 54,967 (fifty-four thousand, nine hundred sixty-seven US dollars). The value used for conversion was R$ 3.30 (three reals and thirty cents).

The Social Communication Plan provides two immediate actions to build up the public image, which are:

a) VAN - a logo representing the Rotary Club of Brasilia-December 5 will be painted on the side of the van a long with other partnerships involved. This will act as a "moving outdoor" advertisement that will advertise in every location the van travels to.

b) Actions will be implemented involving the work of Rotarians in cooperation with the Entity in both communities assisted (Varjão and Estrutural), always advertising the name brand and the message of the Rotary Club.

The expected results are:

a) Improve the institution's operational capacity in relation to social inclusion, raising the participation of those assisted at events outside the Communities, such as Theatre, Museum, Memorials and others like Superior Court and the Federal Congress.

b) Improve the institution's operational capacity with regard to the inclusion of the assisted personnel, coming from areas of high social risk (Example: those areas displaying a high level of violence that do not have any public transportation, where you can only arrive through a vehicle provided by charity work as low city Estrutural).
