Project Description Region: South America Country: Ecuador Location: Vilcabamba Total Budget: $61,440 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment The project is located in the Vilcabamba Parish, Loja Canton, where one of its main attractions is the health tourism. This parish, located 41 km from the city of Loja, is known worldwide as the ISLAND OF LONGEVITY because it has people above 100 years old. Many scientists worldwide have conducted researches on its climate, water, and other elements to determine the reasons why people survive so long. Its weather remains between 18 and 22 ° C. It is believed that its climate and water have healing properties for heart diseases. The objective of the Project is provide the equipment for the fisioterapia at the the municipal gerontology attention center intended to strengthen the quality of life and mental health of the elderly.
