Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Ecuador

Location: Loja

Total Budget: $49,500

Area of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention

This project will be directed to the police officers who are serving in the different UPCs of the province of Loja, we aspire to train more than 120 officers at different stages, this will depend on the distance of the UPC and the permissions corresponding from their superiors.

The benefit for the Policemen, besides getting the training will be that at the time of collaborating with the peaceful resolution of conflicts in a community, the authority of the policemen earns more consolidation and prestige and the institution's respect will grow.

The main idea of this project is to benefit poor people who lives far from the province in order to solve their conflicts peacefully in the shortest time possible, with the lower economic expenses and trying to return to families in conflict the confidence once again in their family member, neighbor, friend, etc.

The strategy to promote this service is through communication and information, radio media will be the main vehicle to inform the people, as well as the parish Governments since they work directly with neighborhoods which is where these conflicts most frequently occur.

We must point out that the mediation centers will be the rural UPCs and the mediators the policemen that are serving in these UPCs, the project will be aimed to train the police officers who are a permanent part of these facilities.

We hope to start this Project in May 2017 and to finish it in december 2017, this Project will last six months, this timing frame will depend on the number of registered students.
