The Rotary Global Grant G-1290, will impact the lives of 1,000 children and teachers in deprived communities, in Accra, by giving them additional science training in the classroom and by giving them additional English, mathematics, science, computer science and social science training as an extra curriculum activity. Our project will train the children to apply their Mathematics, English and Science education. We will focus on the kids from the Kanda Cluster Schools, and the Kanda Islamic Training Institute. These schools are Basic, Primary, and Junior High schools, in the Greater Accra Region District, in Ghana. The total project funding is $50,000.
The kids will be given standard tests to measure the impact of the extra tutoring. They will be given books and software and extra tuition. They will put together presentations, talks, and demonstrations and quizzes on English, Mathematics, and Science, using the knowledge they have gained from extra tuition. We will put together Astronomy training on a special software that can show the night sky on a laptop and projected on a wall.. The schools will be fitted with computer science labs and educational material. We will provide the school with a computer science library and reward some kids with a lecture on Astronomy, at the Ghana Planetarium.
