The Rotary Global Grant G-1290, will impact the lives of 1,000 children and teachers in deprived communities, in Accra, by improving literacy in the schools. We will improve literacy my donating books to the schools and have reading sessions with the children. We will provide the schools with a library each. We will focus on the children from the Kanda Cluster Schools, and the Kanda Islamic Training Institute. These schools are Basic, Primary, and Junior High schools, in the Greater Accra Region District, in Ghana. The total project funding is $50,000.
The kids will be given books and software and extra tuition. They will put together presentations, talks, demonstrations and quizzes on English, Mathematics, and Science. We will have reading sessions with the children. The schools will be fitted with a library. We will reward the kids with a lecture on Astronomy, at the Ghana Planetarium.
We need help from you, your club, and district to raise these funds to reach our goal. This project is led by PE Dinah Bondzie of the Rotary Club of Accra East, District 9102, in Accra, Ghana. The plan is to submit this Global Grant around February or March, 2017.
