Project Description Region: Eastern Europe Country: Turkey Location: Didim Total Budget: $40,200 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment View Online Proposal Form Didim is a touristic town at Turkey's Aegean cost with approx. 80.000 inhabitants. During the summer season, which lasts almost 8 month (from April to November) this amount is increasing to almost 400.000 people. More and more retired people have realized Didim's healthy climate and this is why the town has become a preferred retirement location, which has caused the quickly increasing number of inhabitants. As RC Didim, we always have been supporting Didim Hospital's needs and requirements to let it serve more efficient to its inhabitants. During our periodic negotiations with the authorities, we have noticed that there is a big demand for a physiotherapy unit, as Didim's elderly inhabitants makes the signifıcant portion of its population. Furthermore, 2000 disabled persons are living here. All this persons and other crash and sport accident victims need special physiotherapy treatment. In the past, all of them had to go the other hospitals offering physiotherapy. The nearest are in 60 km far Söke State Hospital or 110 km far Aydın State Hospital. In the past the people had to go there by themselves, the worst cases were brought there by Didim Hospital ambulance. The units' building is already established. With this Grant Didim RC is planning to donate necessary equipment to start-up this Physiotherapy Unit at Didim State Hospital. The Physiotherapy Unit will provide assessment and treatment of a wide spectrum of conditions; It will serve hospital inpatients, and a wide range of outpatient treatments. 20-30 persons could be served per day.
