Project Description Region: South America Country: Brazil Location: Belo Horizonte Total Budget: $230,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Procure CT Scanner for the Hospital da Baleia, one of the largest philanthropic instituition in Minas Gerais State - Brazil. This equipment will be used in diagnoses of diseases, as cancer. Hospital da Baleia was founded in 1944 and currently is reference in 25 medical procedures, as oncology, nephrology, neuroisurgery and others. Located in the midle of a forest reservation, the hospital has: 170 beds 250 physicians 800 Staff Members 10,000 admissions yearly 11,600 surgeries yearly 45,000 haemodialysis sessions yearly 35,000 chemotherapy sessions yearly 24,300 children admissions The hospital supports 694 municipalities with more tham 5 mllions of inhabitants. The CT Scanner will deliverup to 1,000 exams monthly, on adults and chidren from poverty area.
