This Global Grant will save lives. Now, when a woman is delivering a baby at night, a small motorcycle called a BODA BODA pulls in and turns on the head light, so the midwife can see. If a woman cannot stop bleeding, or if she needs a C-section, the closest help is 2 1/2 to 3 hours away...IF there is a car, IF there is gas, and IF the roads are passable. With this new and improved medical center, doctors will be able to do surgery there at the center.
I have been working in this area of Uganda for about 15 years now on schools. This Medical Center is critical to the community. I have taken 15 trips to the area. I will be happy to fly to any Rotary Club to speak and give a power point Presentation. I will get there if you can give me a place to stay, a sofa will do.
