The Project is located at Swami Vivekanand Vidyamandir, a residential school at Chindhyachi Wadi, Near Kasara, In Shapaur Tahsil, District Thane of state Maharashtra in India.
The school is reputed school hosting over 500 students of which around 100 are girls. School faces severe water scarcity even when region faces more than 200 cm rainfall. Currently there is only one pond, a bore well and a well. Water from these sources is utilised for all purposes. Bore well bears enough drinking water till April but other sources go dry by November owing to hilly terrain. The project aims to construct a sub surface dam to strengthen existing well, store running water in two ponds, recycle waste water, construct roof top rain water harvesting structure and build a new well in the adjacent premises. The water harvested in such a manner can be utilised for health and hygiene of these students. And also water harvested will be used in Month of May by the villagers.
