Project Description

Region: Middle East

Country: Lebanon

Location: Zahle Bekaa

Total Budget: $57,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

The project consists of providing a bus for the association "Ray Of Hope" in Zahle and Bekaa region.

The Ray of Hope is a non governmental organisation, that takes care of 185 poor children, teenagers and adults that present diverse types of disabilities (mild or profound intellectual impairment, trisomy 21, movement and cerebral impairment, autism, troubled development). The service offerd to the children is free of charge.

The transportation in the Bekaa region is very difficult for everyone: no trains, no organized public transport. Parents are not able to afford the expensive tranportation of their children and the institution has only one minibus fortransportation, which constitute a real problem for the transportation of the students to their school.

From here, we have the idea of offering a bus to the institution to facilitate the transportation of the students from the different corners of the region to the school.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
