Country: Puerto Rico

Location: Patillas, P.R.

Total Budget: $80,161

Area of Focus: Water and sanitation

The project aims to strengthen equitable access to water supply and improve hygiene and sanitation conditions in the communities of Barrio Marín in Patillas, Puerto Rico. In addition, to provide a water filtration system, the project seeks to improve the health of this community by providing filtered water and thus avoid dependence on the purchase of bottled water for consumption.

The project consists of the installation of two filtration systems that operate with solar and wind energy that will allow the community to have access to drinking water in two communal areas. The system will be installed by H2Opendoors, a foundation that specializes in the installation of these systems throughout the world. In addition to the installation of the systems, training will be offered to four people per filtration system, who will be in charge of the maintenance and conservation of the system.
