The project - Building Toilet Blocks for Boys and Girls Students of Mantharamoorthy Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli (celebrating 100 years this year) and MDT Hindu Higher Secondary Schools, Tirunelveli (140 years Old) for the year 2018-19, is one direly needed project for the students studying in the school who do not have required toilets for themselves and are forced defecate in the open leading to unhealthy environment.

1. Mantharamoorthy Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli

The school located in a residential area. 170 boys and 35 girls total of 205 students studying in this school. A Railway track on the other side of the school. The students are economically weaker and the majority of the houses do not have toilet facility attached to them. From aged to children use open railway tracks/fields nearby to defecate and relieve themselves that leads to unhealthy living conditions and they become susceptible to a host of illness frequently. Health issues keep them away from School (Especially for Girl Students) for the best part of their life. This continues to keep them away from the education, economically weak and poor and their children are unable to lift themselves up to the general standards of living.

2. MDT Hindu Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli

The school located in a heart of the Tirunelveli City. 1000 boys and 300 girls total of 1300 students studying in this school. The school has very limited toilet blocks for the students. It's 140 years old school. The students are economically weaker and the majority of the houses do not have toilet facility attached to them. The students are not using the toilets (especially girl students) because it does not have a facility. That leads to unhealthy living conditions and they become susceptible to a host of illness frequently. Health issues keep them away from School (Especially for Girl Students) for the best part of their life. This continues to keep them away from the education, economically weak and poor and their children are unable to lift themselves up to the general standards of living.

Rotary club of Tinnevelly, is taking up this project to help the students get good education environment by building toilet facilities to the students studying in these schools wherever feasible. These schools have enough space to build toilet facilities.

For (i) Mantharamoorthy Higher Secondary School, We have identified about 15 urinals and 3 toilets for boys and 6 for girls toilets. The total number of toilets planned is 15 urinals and 6 individual units.

For (ii) MDT Hindu Higher Secondary School, We have identified about 30 urinals for boys and 15 for girls toilets. The total number of toilets planned is 40 urinals and 12 individual units.

For both schools [i & ii], the Total number of toilets planned is 55 urinals and 18 individual units.
