This project will begin to address the tremendous need for pediatric cardiac care not only for the underprivileged children of Monterrey, Mexico but also the surrounding communities. A total of 3 VTT training visits will be conducted in 2019-20 at Zambrano Hellion Hospital in Monterrey. Each visit will be 10 days in length with a goal of treating 20 children per mission (10 Cath procedures and 10 surgeries). The hospital has all the necessary equipment needed to conduct pediatric cardiac surgeries and catherizations. However, they are in need of skills transfer as well as funding to procure the specialized supplies and medications to complete these lifesaving procedures.

DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.

The last VTT was just completed in February. A total of 13 children were treated. The local team is now completing more cath procedures on their own to utilize the last of the funding. We expect these procedures to be completed within the next month or so at which time we will begin to work on the final report.
6-Jul-20
by Estelle Ebert
This grant is almost finished. We have enough money left after completing all the VTT missions to treat 4 more children. We are now just waiting for the hospital to give approval to treat these children. Right now no surgeries are happening due to Covid-19. As soon as they are able, they will compete these last few surgeries and the grant will be closed.
27-Jul-20
by Estelle Ebert
We have 4 more cath cases to do but are waiting for clearance from the hospital to proceed due to Covid-19.
Once these cases are completed, we will be able to close this grant.
