Pilopata is a small town in the Andean highlands, south of Quito. It has access to abundant water, but that water is muddy and contaminated. Our project will install a series of filtration and chlorination facilities, plus storage tanks, to provide clean and healthy water to about 1000 people in these towns.
This project is now COMPLETELY FUNDED, and is awaiting approval by the Rotary Foundation.

DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.

The project is almost finished. We have completed the improvements to the water capturing options and connected to the existing tank. The additional reserve tank has been completed and connected to the distribution system.

The project is nearly complete. We installed 5 "capture tanks" in the hills above Pilopata, then we connected those tanks with 5000m of rubber hose to the newly renovated chlorination plant, and then to the new 75 m3 storage tank. We also cleaned out and expanded the town's septic tank. We provided training on basic hygiene to about 300 villagers. We need to make a few small adjustments to the reserve tank, for which some funds are still available.
