Project Description Region: South America Country: Brazil Location: Rio Branco - Acre Total Budget: $40,000 Area of Focus: Community economic development Project to supply musical instruments to the Friends of Solidarity Association, located in Adalberto Sena neighborhood, Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil. Approximate population of 150 needy children music students. Problem: The Association survives on small donations and does not have many resources for teaching music. Thus, the project includes the acquisition of musical instruments to equip the Friends Solidarity Association, removing children from the streets and vulnerable situation. The goal is for the Rotary Club to equip the Association with various instruments such as guitars, keyboards, wind instruments, among others. By doing so, the Association assists in the insertion and retention of children in musical projects, fills idle time, encourages discipline, respect, creativity, reasoning, memory and even raises self-esteem.
