Project Description Region: South America Country: Brazil Location: Pederneiras Total Budget: $34,831 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment The implementation of this project will be done in APAE - Association of Parents and Friends of Exceptional, located in 1375 Nossa Senhora Aparecida Avenue, Pederneiras, São Paulo, 17.280-000, Brazil. APAE Pederneiras is 51 years old and currently serves more than 300 people with disabilities from 0 to 67 years. Currently 170 internal people with neurological disorders, developmental delay and other conditions that affect motor and cognitive functions need a special treatment thought the PEDIASUIT therapeutic method, that aims to improve the development of the patients. This kind of treatment is offered only at private clinics in our region and has a high-cost, which makes it impossible to serve all those in need. Therefore, this project aims to implement a PEDIASUIT equipment system in APAE Pederneiras, serving all the needy of the city and may cover the service to other cities in the region. The operation and maintenance of the equipment will be performed by APAE's Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team, professionals already trained to attend and handle this equipment. It's being considered the use of funds by Rotary Club Pederneiras, local and international DDF, as well international partners Rotary Clubs. Members of Rotary Club Pederneiras will be involved directly during the implementation, estimated to be done in 04 months, and also during the operation. Costs related to the maintenance, operation, future training and staff salaries to use the equipment will be the APAE's responsibility. We previously consulted The Rotary Foundation for their eligibility and they were in favor.
