Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Brazil

Location: Ibia -mg

Total Budget: $50,000

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

The acquisition of an ultrasound device for the Public Hospital in the city of Ibiá, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The target population will be all pregnant women, and any citizen who needs to have an abdominal assessment, covering a population of almost thirty thousand people. The problem is that the hospital in question has a very old device, and the images are not of sufficient quality to provide doctors with safe diagnoses. The solution to the problem is the purchase of a modern ultrasound device, which has the ability to provide clear images providing doctors with a safe diagnosis and consequently the prevention and treatment of diseases. The entity that will use and maintain will be the City Hospital, which has the name of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Ibiá.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
