Rosary Sister's Hospital, located 300 meters from the port, opened in 2012; this brand-new 200-bed establishment is now nothing more than walls and empty halls, after the explosion of 4th August, 2020.
The Hospital suffered from extensive structural and equipment damage and is now no longer operational in all its medical and administrative units. The gutted 'false ceilings' hang at eye level. The lead door protecting the X-ray room, yet nearly 10 cm thick, was thrown to the back of the room by the blast.
Before this tragedy, the hospital had been completely renovated and modernized, and it houses the National Breast Care Center, the Vision and Ophthalmology Institute, and a Women's Care Center within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. Furthermore, the hospital employs 160 staff and 140 physicians.
Rotary Club of Zgharta Zawieh in collaboration with other Rotary and Rotaract Clubs are preparing Grant Application to fund the medical equipment needed for the Intensive Care Unit, as Phase 1.

This project needs to receive some pledges to go to the next level. Please check the "Financing" tab to see the list of current pledges. Once the amount pledged is equal to the project budget, the status of the project will be automatically changed to "Fully Pledged". Click here to pledge support for this project.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
