Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health
Egypt is a country with a population 105 million with a birth rate of 2.9 which means that we have around 3 million children born each year; within this rate around 35 thousand children with congestive heart disease; 50% of which will need intervention either surgically or non-surgically; which is a big load on the economy of Egypt. Therefore, our support is direly needed and is fundamental in this area, because the National Health Insurance cannot cover all children with congenial heart disease, so they die on the waiting list unless they receive help from sources such as ours.
The project will target 17'000 of which two thirds will need intervention. The project will help save families in the process, by saving a child. WE are targeting direct treatment of 40 patients in this grant pledge.
In addition, we will be training young doctors and specialized nurses for the aftercare of these children and to instruct on the non-invasive procedures available by transferring specialized knowledge.
We have already completed four global grants phase total budget around 300K USD treating 140 patients and also workshops in Cairo, Beni Suef and Sohag governorates in Upper Egypt.
Your project is "Fully Pledged". This means the amount of the pledges is equal to the total budget of the project. Now the project needs to be finalized and go through the approval process with The Rotary Foundation. This process gets started on the administration page.
Project listed for the 2025-26 Rotary Year.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
