Uganda, like the rest of the world was hit hard with the Covid19 Pandemic. The past two uears have seen girls drop out of school and many becoming pregnant at an early age. A case in Buyende district whee Rotary club of Jinja City carried out a needs assessment found out that in one promary school of a primary seven class of 2020, 89 girls out of 103 pupils got pregnant in the lock down. There is urgent need for the club to address the issue of teen mothers in Busoga Sub region which has the highest number of teenage pregnancies in Uganda.
The project is to support teen mothers in skillful parenting, family planning, vocational skills, leadership and organisation, post training tools and equipment and income and Hope.
The project is for one year. The project will work with 1500 teen mothers in the ten districts of Busoga.
Members with expertise will provide voluntary support in the project design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation. The project will also work with other stakeholders including the private sector, NGOs,CBOs and the local government.
