In Uganda, there is high rate of un-employment among the youths, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics 2012 revealed that unemployed youths (national definition, 18-30 years) among the total unemployed persons in the country was 64%.

Uganda has the highest school dropout rate in East Africa (UNESCO). A follow up of every 100 pupils who joined primary One in 1999, showed that only 25 reached primary seven.

Furthermore, Covid-19 Pandemic Side effects including prolonged Shut down of schools in Uganda (over 18 months), has resulted into many more school pupils loosing hope of Re-opening of schools, thus being idle moving up and down resulting many conceiving teenage pregnancies, Sexually Transmitted infections, forced marriages at every young age in Exchange of money with well-off men.

Basing on the above analysis, there is a great need of solving the unemployment problem among the disadvantaged youths and women through recruiting and training them in various sustainable skills of their own choice either; Hair dressing & weaving, Sewing & fashion making.

Through this project, Rotary Club of Kabulasoke Gomba, in partnership with the Mityana open Troop Foundation, shall train vulnerable youths and women and equip them with vocational skills that can enable them secure their future.

The 12 months proposed project will include 100 direct disadvantaged youths between 13 years to 30 years, Studying 5 days a week Monday to Fridays, from 8.00am 4.00pm, with break time, lunch and sports hours. There will be 3 training terms (each term containing 3 months) in a year, with 3 school holidays of each 1 month. At the end of training, youths shall be donated start-up tools to enable them go and start right away own workshops.

However, the applied grant shall cater for the following, Skills development, staffs, 2 hair dressers, 2 sewing instructors, vocational principal, mobilization & communication, stationary, secretary/cashier.

Monitoring will be carried out throughout the life span of the project, by Rotary Club Of Kabulasoke Gomba, and the project beneficiaries will pray a major participating role in the entire monitoring process.
