The deaf community battle for employment and education (esp further education). This kitchen will teach them to be able to take up positions in the hospitality industry and as baristas. The teaching kitchens to be established will train far more of the deaf community and set up links with employers also training the employers in sign language so that communication is no longer the biggest stumbling block. As soon as we can find international partners we can get going with this project. The space is there and waiting. A staircase that meets safety standards needs to be built. Then the teaching kitchen needs to be equipped. The trainers will also receive Train the Trainer training and also train future staff and baristas. Their baristas have already won 2 major awards in the last 3 years (https://youtu.be/KoMp-CTxyvQ & https://youtu.be/U9LoSdOjVpU). It is the most empowering feeling for a non-deaf person to go in and watch a TV screen and be able to sign your coffee order to the barista immediately with no training in sign language. If you need more information you can contact biffy.danckwerts@gmail.com or kch.ett.9350.crc@gmail.com. We are looking for international partners please.

This project needs to receive some pledges to go to the next level. Please check the "Financing" tab to see the list of current pledges. Once the amount pledged is equal to the project budget, the status of the project will be automatically changed to "Fully Pledged". Click here to pledge support for this project.
DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
