Total Budget: $46,400

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

"Turning the digital divide into digital dividends"

The world today is divided between the 'haves' and 'have-nots', not only by wealth but by a growing number of separations, including the access to knowledge and information which is provided through information technology, known as digital divide. The government schools are unable to provide computer facilities at their schools, as such the gap between students studying in private schools and government schools are widening. The condition is more acute in villages, where private computer training facilities are also not available, and students have not even seen a computer.

Computer labs will be established at two schools in Nepal. Rotary club of Rudramati and Rotaract club members will manage the training programs. This new, matching grant application - of RC Rudramati, RI District 3292, Nepal and Whitehouse Rotary New Jersey and other district 7475 clubs, RI District 7475 will help establish computer laboratory in two schools.

Intended beneficiaries are approximately 2000 students and 50 teachers of 2 schools and small portion of 10,000 village population.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
