Project Description

Region: Africa

Country: South Sudan

Location: Juba

Total Budget: $60,000

Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene

The main objective of this project is to provide the WASH facilities for the vulnerable children exposed to conflict or violence in South Sudan. WASH facilities at the new Confident Children out of Conflict orphanage site will help provide a safe and nurturing educational environment and prepare them for living confident lives. This will be achieved by partnering in the funding of WASH facilities for the new location of the Confident Children out of Conflict orphanage in New Bilpam, Juba, South Sudan. Rotary club of Juba has been a great partner working with this oprhan center for about 10 years doing club levels projects and now the orhanage has been forced out of their current location by the church who was their host for the past 12 years. The current location lacks WASH facilities, RC Juba through the Global Grants wants to putting befitting facilities for this children.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.

Reason for dropping: Requested by Patricia Kurtz: Lat month Rotary International limited the number of open global grants for this district. Our club has put its partnership on hold until the host club closes two of their open grants.
